President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for a successful operation in Kogi State that resulted in the elimination of a notorious bandit leader, Ibrahim Bastuji, and the rescue of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, widow of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar.
In a statement issued by the Presidency on Monday, the President described the operation against Bastuji as a major setback for criminal networks responsible for violent attacks, kidnappings and other criminal activities in Kogi State and neighbouring areas.
According to Tinubu, the bandit leader’s activities had inflicted severe hardship on residents, and his neutralisation would help restore public confidence and improve security in affected communities.
“I congratulate our gallant troops on this decisive milestone. Nigeria will not surrender any part of its territory to criminals. Those who choose the path of violence against innocent citizens will find no hiding place. This success reflects the renewed determination of our security forces to secure every inch of our land,” the President said.
Tinubu also praised security personnel involved in the rescue of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted alongside her husband, the late former Director of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd).
The President described the rescue operation as evidence of the professionalism, courage and commitment of the nation’s security forces in confronting criminal elements.
“The safe return of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar is a source of relief to her family and to all Nigerians. I commend the intelligence coordination and bravery of the officers and men who executed the rescue operation. We owe a debt of gratitude to our troops who risk their lives daily to keep us safe,” he added.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Armed Forces and other security agencies through improved resources, training and support aimed at tackling banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
He also urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing efforts to improve security across the country.
The President reaffirmed the government’s determination to restore peace and ensure the safety of lives and property nationwide.
