President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension of the tenures of the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, and the
Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap.
With the approval, Nwakuche’s tenure will now run until May 26, 2028, while Nandap will remain in office until June 30, 2028.
The extension followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and is aimed at addressing succession gaps within both agencies while providing adequate time for their respective boards to complete leadership transition processes.
President Tinubu commended both service chiefs for the reforms and achievements recorded under their leadership and urged them to consolidate on the gains made in their respective organisations.
Nwakuche was nominated by President Tinubu as Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service in December 2024 and was subsequently confirmed by the Senate in March 2025.
Similarly, Nandap was appointed Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service on February 21, 2024, before receiving Senate confirmation on March 1, 2024.
The tenure extensions are expected to ensure continuity in ongoing reforms and operational initiatives within the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
