Tinubu Celebrates NGX Chairman Unuigbe at 50, Praises His Role in Building Nigeria’s Energy and Capital Market Sectors

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ahonsi Unuigbe, founder and chief executive of Petralon Energy and chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Limited, on his 50th birthday, praising what he described as a remarkable record of achievement across investment banking, energy, project finance, and capital markets that demonstrated Nigerians’ capacity to build globally competitive institutions.

Tinubu said Unuigbe’s establishment of Petralon Energy, one of Nigeria’s leading independent energy companies, reflected the enterprise and commitment to building local capacity and energy security that the country’s transformation required. He said his chairmanship of the Nigerian Exchange Limited, through which he had championed market integrity, investor confidence, and broader participation in capital markets, aligned directly with the economic transformation agenda the administration was pursuing.

The president described the confluence of professional excellence and national commitment in Unuigbe’s career as the model of leadership Nigeria needed from its private sector figures and said the country required more individuals who combined building globally competitive institutions with contributing to the national development trajectory.
