Soludo Orders Immediate End to Aguleri-Umuoba Anam Communal Clashes

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has ordered an immediate cessation of hostilities between the Aguleri and Umuoba Anam communities following a violent communal clash in Anambra East Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly led to loss of lives and injuries.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the governor expressed sadness over the violence and called on both communities to embrace peace.

Soludo has convened an emergency peace and security meeting involving key stakeholders from the affected communities.

The meeting is scheduled to hold on October 7, 2026, at the Lighthouse in Awka.

The governor urged residents to channel all grievances through designated representatives and avoid actions capable of escalating tensions.

He also directed security agencies, including the police, to strengthen their presence in the area to protect lives and property and prevent further violence.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and the maintenance of security across Anambra State.
