Vice President Kashim Shettima has told supporters in Calabar that the most difficult phase of the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms is over and that a renewed mandate would allow Nigerians to benefit more directly from the changes.
Speaking at an All Progressives Congress campaign event in Cross River State, Shettima asked voters to support President Bola Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu and other APC candidates. He presented the administration’s policies as necessary groundwork for future growth while acknowledging that households continued to face hardship.
The vice president highlighted the Lagos to Calabar Coastal Highway as a project intended to improve trade, tourism and investment. He also discussed the proposed Bakassi Deep Sea Port, maritime development, the state’s interest in disputed oil wells and education financing through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
APC national chairman Nentawe Yilwatda urged party members to translate rally attendance into votes and argued that road, rail and port investments could improve Cross River’s economic prospects. Governor Otu similarly endorsed continuity, while other campaign officials expressed confidence in the party’s electoral prospects.
Shettima also visited the Obong of Calabar, where the discussion focused on respect for traditional institutions and peaceful coexistence.
