Industry leaders have identified technology, innovation and environmental responsibility as the key factors that will shape the future of Nigeria’s commercial printing and packaging sector.

The position was expressed at the 2026 FLEXOEDGE Conference in Lagos, which brought together policymakers and industry stakeholders from Nigeria, Europe and Asia to examine opportunities across the printing value chain.

RandomSoft Technical Director Olakunle Ogunjobi said advances in flexographic technology now allow manufacturers to produce shorter print runs without sacrificing quality, making operations more flexible and cost efficient. He urged businesses to invest in skills, knowledge and collaboration to remain competitive.

VIP Systems Chief Executive Günter Franz described Nigeria as one of Africa’s most promising packaging markets because of its population, expanding food industry and growing consumer demand. He said better packaging could improve preservation, product presentation and compliance with export requirements.

Lagos State Special Adviser on Climate Change and Circular Economy Titilayo Oshodi called for lightweight, recyclable and resource efficient packaging. She said collaboration among manufacturers, recyclers, technology companies and government could create jobs while reducing environmental damage.
