Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded his working vacation in Paris, France, and is currently on his way back to Nigeria, according to a statement issued by the Presidency.
The President’s aircraft is expected to land at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos later on Tuesday evening, marking the end of a trip that began on August 30 when he departed Abuja for a working vacation.
According to the State House, President Tinubu spent the first week of his trip in London before proceeding to Paris, where he held a series of meetings with political and business leaders.
Rather than returning directly to Abuja, the President opted to make Lagos his first stop in order to honour the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, widely regarded as a symbol of Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle.
As part of activities marking Nigeria’s Independence Day, President Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a film celebrating the life and legacy of Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. The event will be held at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
The President is also scheduled to hold strategic consultations with political leaders and key associates during his stay in Lagos as preparations begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During his time in Paris, President Tinubu attended a private dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. He also met with prominent business figures, including Vincent Bolloré, chairman of the Bolloré Group, whose business interests span media, logistics and digital enterprises, including Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
On Monday, the President also met with businessman and Chairman of First Holdings, Femi Otedola.
A major highlight of the President’s engagements in France was his participation in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and global logistics giant DP World. The agreement is aimed at developing the proposed Gateway Deep Seaport in Ogun Waterside and establishing a Blue Marine Economic Zone in the area.
DP World has indicated plans to invest approximately $7 billion in the seaport project and the accompanying economic zone, a move expected to boost maritime trade, industrial development and economic growth in the region.
The Presidency said President Tinubu will return to Abuja after completing his engagements in Lagos.
The statement was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on September 29, 2026.
