Police Intensify Search for Abducted NYSC Members in Imo, Deploy Senior Officers for Rescue Mission

The Nigeria Police Force has stepped up efforts to rescue 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and other passengers abducted along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Imo State.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, announced the deployment of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Shehu Umar Nadada, alongside two Commissioners of Police, to coordinate the rescue operation and ensure the victims’ safe return.

According to a statement issued by the Force Headquarters, the high-powered team has already undertaken an on-the-spot assessment of the situation, reviewed personnel deployment, and strengthened intelligence-driven operations aimed at tracking down the kidnappers.

The police also disclosed that additional tactical teams and operational assets have been deployed to strategic locations as part of a coordinated security response involving other law enforcement and security agencies.

Speaking on the ongoing operation, DIG Operations, Shehu Umar Nadada, assured the public that security personnel remain committed to securing the release of all abducted victims and bringing those responsible to justice.

He emphasized that the operation would continue until the victims are rescued safely and the perpetrators apprehended.

The police urged residents and members of the public to remain calm and support security efforts by providing credible information that could assist ongoing rescue operations.
