The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed the safe return of the students and teachers who were abducted in Oyo State several weeks ago, commending the efforts of all those involved in securing their release.

In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party expressed relief over the victims’ safe return, describing their ordeal as a traumatic experience that no Nigerian should endure in pursuit of education.

Although details surrounding the rescue operation remain unclear, the PDP praised the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, security agencies, as well as individuals and organisations whose contributions led to the successful rescue of the victims.

“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) welcomes the safe return of the students and teachers who were kidnapped in Oyo State some months ago,” the statement said.

The opposition party, however, urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to prevent similar incidents, stressing that safeguarding lives and property remains the primary responsibility of any government.

It called for more decisive actions to strengthen security across the country, particularly around educational institutions, to protect students, teachers and other vulnerable citizens from criminal attacks.

“The protection of lives and property remains the first responsibility of government and is the irreducible minimum that our country and its citizens deserve,” the party stated.
