The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced its nationwide screening exercise for aspirants seeking to contest legislative and executive positions on the party’s platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The screening process, which began on Tuesday, is taking place across designated centres nationwide for aspirants contesting senatorial, House of Representatives and state legislative seats.
Meanwhile, the screening of presidential and governorship aspirants is being conducted at the national level in Abuja.
Party officials described the exercise as a crucial step in preparations for the 2027 polls, aimed at ensuring that candidates seeking to fly the party’s flag meet constitutional, electoral and internal party requirements.
Live images released from the exercise showed members of the Presidential and Governorship Screening Panels engaging with aspirants at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The PDP said the screening exercise reflects its commitment to internal democracy, transparency and due process as political parties intensify preparations for the next general elections.
The party is expected to conclude the screening process before moving to the next phase of its primary election activities across the country.
