The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has established a reconciliation committee to address grievances from its recently concluded primaries and strengthen unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

State Chairman Babatunde Kolawole announced the committee during a visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists press centre in Akure, naming Oil Producing Areas Development Commission Chairman Biyi Poroye to lead it. Kolawole said disagreements are an inevitable part of democratic politics but stressed that the party has strong internal mechanisms for resolving disputes, noting that after a demanding political cycle involving congresses, conventions and primaries for multiple elective positions, some friction was unavoidable.

Responding to criticism from unsuccessful aspirants, including former Commissioner for Energy Razaq Obe, Kolawole said aspirants have a right to express personal opinions but that such views do not represent the party’s official position, dismissing suggestions that the disagreements could threaten the party’s unity in the state. He rejected claims that the absence of strong opposition in Ondo State is unhealthy for democracy, attributing the party’s dominance to the successes of the federal Renewed Hope Agenda and the state government’s development programme, and disclosed that the party has registered about 84 support groups statewide as it works toward delivering at least one million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
