Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced the arrest of four additional suspects linked to the kidnapping of seven Gateway ICT Polytechnic students who were rescued alive.
The governor made the announcement while inaugurating the 3.3 kilometre Adesan Road in Mowe, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
Two suspected members of the kidnapping gang had earlier been arrested during the operation that led to the students’ release.
Abiodun credited the rescue to cooperation among the Police, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun, hunters and vigilante groups.
He said the remaining suspects would be pursued and prosecuted and warned that Ogun would not provide a safe environment for criminal groups.
The governor also highlighted infrastructure projects completed across Ogun Central Senatorial District.
He said 42 roads had been constructed or reconstructed in the district since 2019, including 12 in Obafemi Owode.
According to him, about 1,600 kilometres of roads had been delivered across the state’s three senatorial districts.
The newly inaugurated Adesan Road is expected to improve access between surrounding communities and the Lagos Ibadan Expressway while supporting commerce and transportation.
Community leaders and elected representatives at the event commended the project and called for additional infrastructure investment in the area.
