Oborevwori Pledges More Jobs for Delta Youths Through Infrastructure Drive

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged that his administration will continue generating employment opportunities for young people through ongoing infrastructure projects and strategic partnerships with major construction firms, warning that the scale of youth unemployment across the state demanded a sustained and deliberate government response.

The governor made the pledge while addressing construction workers at the Julius Berger Nigeria Plc project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, describing unemployment and economic hardship as among the most pressing challenges confronting families across Delta State and arguing that government had a direct responsibility to close the gap between the aspirations of young people and the opportunities available to them.

“There are many challenges facing our people today, especially unemployment and economic hardship. Too many of our young people are giving up because opportunities are limited. That is why we must continue to create jobs, empower our youths, and ensure that development reaches every community,” Oborevwori said.

He assured workers that his administration would continue awarding projects to Julius Berger as part of a broader strategy to expand employment and accelerate infrastructure renewal across Warri, Effurun, and other parts of the state. He disclosed that the reconstruction of the Effurun Roundabout to NPA axis had already been awarded to Julius Berger, describing it as part of a deliberate plan to revamp infrastructure within the Warri-Effurun metropolis.

On pending completions, the governor said his administration had yet to inaugurate the completed Trans Warri-Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project, noting that the ceremony would take place after the completion of the Ubeji-Ifie Road. He said several projects remained in progress across the state and assured residents that the full benefits would be delivered once all components reached completion.

Oborevwori commended the Tinubu administration for economic reforms he said had increased the revenue available to state governments, enabling more projects to be executed and salaries to be paid promptly. He urged workers and stakeholders to support the administration and All Progressives Congress candidates in the 2027 elections to sustain the delivery of development across the country.

He expressed appreciation to workers and supporters for their commitment to the state’s development agenda, and assured that his administration would remain focused on projects and policies that directly improved the lives of the people of Delta State.
