Popular Nollywood actor and university lecturer, Patrick Okoye, popularly known as “Energy,” has died.
The death of the veteran actor was announced by the Department of Theatre and Film Studies of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
In a statement signed by the Head of Department, Dr. Nkemakonam Aniukwu, the institution disclosed that Okoye passed away in the early hours of May 28, 2026.
Okoye was widely known in Nollywood for his energetic performances and memorable roles that endeared him to audiences across Nigeria and beyond.
Beyond his acting career, he also served as a lecturer in the university’s Department of Theatre and Film Studies, where he contributed to the training and mentorship of aspiring actors and filmmakers.
Colleagues, students, and fans have continued to pay tribute to the late actor, describing him as a talented performer whose impact on the Nigerian film industry and academic community will not be forgotten.
