Nigeria Grants Rwandans 30-Day Visa-Free Entry in Reciprocal Bilateral Gesture

The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced the immediate implementation of a 30-day visa exemption for citizens of Rwanda entering Nigeria, following a directive by President Bola Tinubu made at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali where he disclosed Nigeria’s decision to reciprocate a similar gesture already extended to Nigerian citizens by the Rwandan government.

The policy, which takes effect immediately at all international entry points including airports, land borders, and seaports, allows Rwandan nationals to enter Nigeria without a visa for periods not exceeding 30 days for tourism, business, and official visits. Those wishing to remain beyond the approved 30 days will be required to obtain the appropriate visa through a Nigerian Embassy or High Commission abroad or through the Nigeria e-Visa platform.

The immigration service described the initiative as a reflection of the growing diplomatic and bilateral ties between Nigeria and Rwanda and said it was expected to strengthen intra-African mobility, tourism, and economic cooperation in line with broader continental integration aspirations.
