The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Osun State, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale, has paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to supporting credible, peaceful and secure elections.
The visit took place at the INEC State Headquarters in Osogbo following CP Erale’s assumption of duty after his deployment by the Inspector-General of Police.
During the meeting, the new police commissioner formally introduced himself to the INEC chairman and pledged the continued cooperation of the Nigeria Police Force with the electoral body in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
He assured the commission of the police’s readiness to work closely with INEC to maintain law and order before, during and after elections, as part of efforts to strengthen the integrity of the electoral process.
Welcoming the new commissioner, Prof. Amupitan congratulated him on his appointment and expressed confidence that the longstanding collaboration between INEC and the Nigeria Police Force would continue to enhance peaceful, free and credible elections in Osun State.
He emphasized the importance of sustained synergy among electoral stakeholders in ensuring a secure environment for voters and other participants in the democratic process.
CP Erale’s deployment follows the redeployment of the immediate past Commissioner of Police by the Inspector-General of Police as part of recent changes in the leadership of the Osun State Police Command.
