Mbappé Misses France Training with Flu Ahead of Nations League Fixtures

France captain Kylian Mbappé was absent from training on Tuesday after coming down with the flu, raising concerns as Les Bleus prepare for a busy run of UEFA Nations League matches.

The French Football Federation confirmed that the Real Madrid forward did not participate in training at the national team’s camp in Clairefontaine, located on the outskirts of Paris, as he recovers from illness.

France’s squad has assembled for preparations ahead of upcoming Nations League fixtures, with Zinédine Zidane’s side set to face Turkey away from home on Friday before travelling to Belgium for another clash next Monday.

The French team will then host Italy on October 2 before taking on Belgium again on October 5 as they continue their Nations League campaign.

Despite his absence from training, Mbappé remains a key figure in the national team and continues to serve as captain under head coach Zinédine Zidane.

The 27-year-old forward, who played a central role in France’s 2018 FIFA World Cup triumph in Russia, is regarded as one of the most influential players in international football.

Mbappé also reached another milestone earlier this year when he surpassed Argentine legend Lionel Messi’s World Cup scoring record, taking his tally to 22 goals to become the highest-scoring player in World Cup history.

France will be hoping the striker recovers quickly and returns to full fitness ahead of the crucial fixtures as Zidane seeks to build momentum in the Nations League campaign.
