Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has visited the pupils and teachers recently rescued from captivity following their abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of the state, assuring that the victims are receiving adequate medical care and support.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Makinde disclosed that the rescued victims would remain under medical observation for the next 48 hours to enable health professionals properly assess their physical and psychological condition.

According to the governor, a comprehensive evaluation will be carried out after the observation period before the victims are formally handed over by the military authorities to the Oyo State Government for further management and rehabilitation.

He noted that the state government would continue to work closely with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure the victims receive the necessary medical attention, counselling and reintegration support following their ordeal.

The governor also commended the security agencies for their efforts in securing the safe rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, describing the operation as a significant step in restoring hope to the affected families and communities.

The victims regained their freedom after spending several weeks in captivity following their abduction in Oriire, an incident that sparked nationwide concern and renewed calls for improved security around schools.
