Liverpool Held to 2-2 Draw by Nottingham Forest at Anfield

Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest at Anfield after Víctor Muñoz scored a late equaliser to rescue a point for the hosts.

Forest stunned Liverpool by taking the lead in the 24th minute when Dan Ndoye finished off a swift counterattack after capitalising on the home side’s uncertain start.

Liverpool thought they had levelled shortly afterwards through Florian Wirtz, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

The Reds eventually found an equaliser in the 60th minute when Alexander Isak converted Cody Gakpo’s cross to make it 1-1.

Forest restored their lead 10 minutes later after Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson brought down Neco Williams inside the penalty area. Morgan Gibbs-White stepped up and calmly converted the resulting spot-kick.

Liverpool pushed forward in search of another equaliser and were rewarded in the 82nd minute when Muñoz unleashed a spectacular effort that struck the underside of the crossbar before finding the net.

The goal, scored on Muñoz’s full debut, secured a share of the points for Liverpool.

The draw means Liverpool are still without a league victory in their opening two matches under new manager Andoni Iraola, while Forest are also searching for their first win of the season.
