The Kebbi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of using state institutions to intimidate opposition figures ahead of the 2027 elections, describing the prosecution of former Attorney General Abubakar Malami as politically motivated.

In a joint statement, state chairman Sufiyanu Bala and elders forum chairman Shehu Aliyu Sambawa said the party does not oppose lawful investigations but condemned what they called heavy handed tactics aimed at silencing opposition voices nationwide.

The party said no amount of persecution, suppression or intimidation would shake its determination to remove the ruling party from power in 2027, arguing that the true goal of the APC at every level of government is to make opposition politics as difficult as possible ahead of the election.

The statement said Nigerians had already turned against the ruling party over its policies, and that the party’s misuse of anti-corruption agencies and sections of the judiciary has further alienated the public. It expressed confidence that the ruling party’s time in office would come to an end on election day in 2027.
