The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission between 2021 and 2026 to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.
The deadline, which was initially fixed for August 31, 2026, has now been moved to September 30, 2026.
JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, announced the extension in a statement, describing it as a final opportunity for affected candidates to regularise their admission status.
The Board urged candidates with pending regular or CUIIA admission offers to indicate whether they wish to accept or reject the offers before the new deadline, warning that failure to act would have consequences for their admission status.
Candidates who accept their offers will be able to print their admission letters, while those who reject them will have their dashboards changed to “Not Admitted”, allowing JAMB to update its records.
JAMB also clarified that candidates who are no longer studying at the institutions where their previous admissions were offered, or who are currently enrolled in different programmes, may accept the outstanding admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion.
Candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who have an earlier unaccepted admission offer may also reject the previous offer and continue with their current programme.
The Board further assured candidates who secured new admissions in the 2026 admission exercise that rejecting an earlier outstanding offer would not affect their new admission.
According to JAMB, the extension is intended to enable affected candidates to clearly indicate their decisions and help the Board maintain accurate and up-to-date national admission records.
However, the Board stressed that no further extension will be granted after September 30, 2026.
It warned that all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2026 that remain neither accepted nor rejected by the deadline will automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status on JAMB’s records.
The Board therefore advised all affected candidates to take action immediately rather than wait until the deadline, stressing that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period would render the offer invalid.
