The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will, from Saturday, publish the personal particulars of all candidates nominated for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections for public scrutiny.
The electoral umpire said the documents will be displayed at its headquarters, state offices and other designated locations across the country in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
The publication is intended to enhance transparency in the electoral process by allowing members of the public, political parties and other stakeholders to examine the credentials and other personal information submitted by candidates seeking elective office.
INEC stated that the exercise forms part of the statutory process leading to the 2027 general elections and provides an opportunity for interested persons to verify the information supplied by candidates.
The commission urged Nigerians to take advantage of the inspection period and report any discrepancies or concerns through the appropriate legal channels.
The publication of candidates’ personal particulars is a key milestone in the electoral timetable, paving the way for the next phases of the 2027 election process, including the resolution of any pre-election disputes arising from candidates’ nominations.
