At his Oja Oba palace in Ilorin, the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, put his royal weight behind a prediction: Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s performance in office will carry APC governorship candidate Yakubu Danladi Salihu to victory in 2027, blessings he offered to Danladi Salihu and the rest of the party’s slate during a courtesy visit.
Calling the governor’s programmes transformative, the Emir told the gathering that anyone who sees good work and refuses to say so is being insincere, insisting the reality on the ground speaks for itself, and prayed for continued success for AbdulRazaq and every APC candidate on the 2027 ballot.
Speaking to reporters afterward, Danladi Salihu called democracy an aggregation of competing interests and said work is already underway to bring the party’s factions together, pledging support for both AbdulRazaq and President Tinubu when asked about grievances still simmering among some stakeholders. He pointed to a newly formed reconciliation committee as evidence the party is handling internal disputes seriously, predicted a clean sweep of all 35 seats up for election, and cited the large crowds of APC supporters rallying through Ilorin as proof of grassroots momentum. State party chairman Sunday Fagbemi briefed the Emir on how the party’s candidates emerged, confirming the primaries followed national headquarters guidelines, and formally presented the slate to seek royal blessing.
