IGP Visits Works Ministry, Pledges Security Support for National Infrastructure Projects

The Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Rilwan Disu, on May 26, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Ministry of Works in Abuja to strengthen collaboration on key infrastructure projects across the country.

The visit brought together senior government officials, including the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, alongside directors of the ministry.

Discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing inter-agency cooperation for the effective execution of ongoing road construction projects, including the Coastal Highway and other strategic national road networks aimed at improving connectivity and economic development.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to providing adequate security coverage for critical infrastructure projects across the country.

He said the police would deploy operational resources where necessary to ensure the safety of workers, equipment and project sites, while also safeguarding the smooth implementation of national development initiatives.

Officials at the meeting emphasised the importance of collaboration between security agencies and infrastructure stakeholders in achieving timely delivery of major public works projects.
