The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has commemorated Father’s Day, paying tribute to fathers across Nigeria for their contributions to family stability, social development, and nation-building.
In a message issued on behalf of officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the police chief acknowledged the sacrifices, dedication, and leadership demonstrated by fathers in raising responsible citizens and strengthening the moral values that underpin a peaceful and prosperous society.
According to the IGP, fathers play a vital role in nurturing children, promoting sound moral standards, and instilling values such as discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism, which are essential for national development.
He noted that the guidance, protection, and support provided by fathers help reinforce the social fabric of society and contribute significantly to the country’s progress and stability.
Disu also paid special tribute to police officers who balance the demands of law enforcement duties with their responsibilities as fathers and family leaders.
He commended officers who often spend long hours away from their families while serving the nation, yet remain committed to their roles as parents and positive role models.
The Inspector-General said their sacrifices both at home and in the line of duty deserve recognition and appreciation.
As Nigerians marked this year’s Father’s Day, Disu wished fathers across the country good health, wisdom, strength, and fulfilment.
He further encouraged citizens to celebrate and appreciate the enduring influence of fathers whose commitment and sacrifices contribute to the development of safer families, stronger communities, and a more prosperous nation.
The police chief reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property, strengthening partnerships with communities, and supporting initiatives that promote family values, social cohesion, and national development.
He concluded by extending Father’s Day greetings to fathers across the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
