Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has appealed to Nigerians to continue praying for the nation and security agencies, speaking at a memorial parade at the Force Headquarters in Abuja held to honor 17 Police Mobile Force officers killed during a terrorist attack on the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Buni Yadi, Yobe State, on May 8, 2026.
Disu, who braved early morning rain to attend the memorial, described the fallen officers as brave men who died while standing in defense of Nigeria, her people, and collective peace and security. He pledged that the Force would continue to pursue bandits and do everything in its power to bring down insecurity to the barest minimum.
He said the Police Mobile Force maintained hundreds of personnel across the North-East in joint operations with the armed forces and other security agencies, confronting terrorism and violent extremism daily under extremely difficult conditions so that Nigerian families could sleep with a measure of safety. He assured that the sacrifices of the fallen would never be forgotten and that the Force remained resolute in its commitment to securing the country.
