Former Kano State Governor and prominent opposition leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has disclosed that he received a delegation of Igbo leaders who pledged support for the alliance between him and Peter Obi under the banner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Kwankwaso, the delegation paid a solidarity visit to his Abuja residence and was led by S. N. Okeke, Chairman of the Ohanaeze Council of Elders for the 19 States and the FCT, alongside former Enugu State Governor, Okwesilieze Nwodo.
During the visit, the delegation reportedly commended the growing relationship between Kwankwaso and Obi, describing it as a positive development for national unity and democratic governance. The elders also pledged support for a proposed Obi-Kwankwaso ticket and assured the movement of strong electoral backing from the South-East and other parts of Southern Nigeria.
Kwankwaso expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and the opportunity to discuss national issues and the political future of the country.
He noted that the discussions reflected the importance of fostering cooperation across Nigeria’s regions and highlighted what he described as the productive relationship he continues to enjoy with Peter Obi.
The former governor also reaffirmed his commitment to the “OK Movement” and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, stating that party members remained determined to secure victory in future elections.
The visit is being viewed by political observers as another indication of ongoing efforts among opposition figures to build broader alliances ahead of Nigeria’s next electoral cycle. However, neither the NDC nor representatives of Peter Obi have issued an official statement regarding any proposed joint ticket.
