The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria will host its 2026 Audit and Assurance Leadership Summit in Lagos on August 13, with discussions focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on auditing, governance and financial reporting.
The summit is themed Audit Integrity in the AI Era: Independence, Accountability and Reliable Financial Reporting. It will bring together regulators, audit professionals, corporate executives, investors, academics, policymakers, governance practitioners and technology specialists.
According to the council, the event will examine the benefits, risks and professional responsibilities created by the growing use of artificial intelligence in audit and assurance.
The programme is intended for auditors, chief executives, finance directors, audit committee members, internal auditors, regulators, investors, analysts, researchers and stakeholders from the public and private sectors.
The council said auditor independence, professional scepticism and accountability were becoming increasingly important as technology changes business operations and the preparation of financial statements.
The summit will feature keynote presentations by local and international experts, regulatory updates and discussions on artificial intelligence, audit quality, professional ethics and reliable financial reporting.
Participants will also consider practical measures for strengthening governance and assurance systems while preserving public confidence in an increasingly technology driven business environment.
