Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has dismissed reports suggesting he is battling a terminal illness following the circulation of a viral video that prompted widespread concern among fans and colleagues.
The rumours gained momentum on social media after a video showing the actor appearing noticeably slimmer surfaced online, leading to speculation about his health condition.
Addressing the claims in a video posted on Instagram, Duru firmly denied being seriously ill and described the reports as false and malicious.
The actor expressed appreciation for the support and concern shown by his fans, while condemning those he accused of spreading negative narratives for attention and online engagement.
“My dear fans, greetings to you all. Thank you for always being there for me with your prayers and good wishes. I am making this video in response to a very wicked video circulating about me being sick to the level portrayed in it,” he said.
“I have never been that sick and, by God’s grace, I will continue to grow stronger and stronger.”
Duru further described the viral claims as the work of “merchants of darkness and wickedness,” accusing some individuals of creating false stories to drive traffic on social media platforms.
“This is just to let you know that I am speaking directly to you. Anything beyond this is their business. Thank you so much for your concern. I love you all,” he added.
Despite his reassurance, the actor’s appearance in the disclaimer video continued to generate discussion among followers, with several fans expressing concern over what they described as noticeable weight loss and a change in his physical appearance.
Many supporters took to the comment section to offer prayers and words of encouragement, while others urged the actor to prioritise his health.
The viral speculation and subsequent response have continued to attract attention online, with fans closely monitoring updates from the respected Nollywood star.
