Father Arrested in Ondo for Allegedly Burning Ten Year Old Daughter With Hot Iron Over Bedwetting

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a middle aged man, Amos Paul, for allegedly using a hot pressing iron to burn his daughter’s private parts as punishment for bedwetting, in an incident that occurred at the suspect’s residence in Unaun, Upenme, Owo local government area.

State Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh said the case was reported to police on Thursday, July 16, 2026, and that the victim sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo, where she remains under treatment. Upon receipt of the information, detectives from A Division, Owo, swiftly mobilised to the scene, arrested the suspect without delay and took him into custody, he said, the case is being transferred to the Gender Unit for discreet investigation and further necessary action in line with established procedures. State Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu condemned the alleged act as cruel, inhumane and completely unacceptable, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society from abuse, violence and exploitation, and urged the public to promptly report cases of child abuse and domestic violence to the nearest police station, assuring that offenders would continue to be brought to justice.
