Ekiti Guber Poll: Oyebanji Calls for Peaceful Election, Says Re-election Not Worth Any Life

Ekiti State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, has called for a violence-free governorship election scheduled for June 20, stressing that his re-election bid is not worth the blood of any citizen.

Oyebanji made the appeal over the weekend while addressing campaign rallies held in Emure, Ise/Orun, and Ikere Local Government Areas as part of his statewide engagements with residents and political stakeholders ahead of the poll.

Speaking at the Ikere Ekiti rally, the governor urged supporters of the APC to remain peaceful and focus on issue-based campaigning, rather than engaging in any form of electoral violence.

He noted that since the commencement of his campaign tour earlier in the week, there had been no recorded incidents of violence across the state, describing it as a positive sign that must be sustained.

“Our ambition, my ambition and the ambition of every other person in Ekiti State are not worth the blood of any Ekiti man,” Oyebanji said. “By God’s grace, this election will hold and we will all be alive and in good health when our government is re-elected.”

At Emure Ekiti, the governor had earlier appealed to members of all political parties to shun violence and ensure that the election process remains peaceful, credible, and orderly.

He also expressed confidence in his chances of re-election, urging APC members to rely on unity and discipline rather than confrontation.

“As we go back to our wards and polling units, let us be at peace with one another. The APC is a party of peace, order and process. We should not fight anybody,” he said.

Oyebanji further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peaceful democratic engagement, saying the party would continue to prioritise harmony before, during, and after the election.

He also commended his deputy, Monisade Afuye, for her loyalty and contribution to the success of the administration.
