Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has approved an additional ₦30,000 monthly stipend for all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state.
Governor Nwifuru announced the initiative during the swearing-in ceremony for the latest batch of corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
The governor said the additional allowance was part of his administration’s efforts to ease the financial burden faced by corps members serving across the state, particularly those deployed to remote areas.
He noted that the initiative was aimed at supporting the welfare of corps members as they navigate the different terrains and communities in the state during their service year.
The announcement was greeted with excitement by the corps members, who applauded the governor for the gesture.
Some of the corps members said the additional ₦30,000 monthly allowance would help improve their living conditions and enable them to meet some of their financial obligations throughout their service year.
They also expressed optimism that the support would boost their morale and encourage greater commitment to their national service and contributions to the development of Ebonyi State.
The initiative further underscores the state government’s focus on improving the welfare of NYSC members while encouraging them to contribute meaningfully to national development during their service year.
