DSS Arrests Former Minister Uche Nnaji Over Alleged Certificate Forgery, Hands Him Over to ICPC

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday arrested former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu over allegations of certificate forgery.

According to security sources, Nnaji was apprehended while preparing to board a private jet bound for Abuja.

The sources disclosed that the arrest was carried out at the request of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which is investigating allegations of certificate forgery and other issues arising from petitions concerning his tenure as minister.

Following the arrest, the former minister was reportedly handed over to the ICPC for further investigation.

Sources familiar with the matter said the anti-graft agency had issued several invitations to Nnaji in connection with petitions alleging misconduct in the management of the Ministry of Science and Technology during his time in office.

The sources added that after the former minister allegedly failed to honour the invitations, the ICPC sought the assistance of the DSS to facilitate his arrest.

Neither the DSS nor the ICPC had issued an official statement on the arrest as of the time of filing this report. Similarly, Nnaji has not publicly responded to the allegations.
