Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has attributed the development progress recorded by his administration over its first three years to the productive partnership between the executive and legislative arms of government in the state, describing the cooperation between both institutions as a model that had enabled consistent policy implementation and broad-based development delivery across all parts of the state.
Oborevwori spoke at a thanksgiving service marking the third anniversary of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly at the RCCG in Asaba, commending Speaker Emomotimi Guwor and the legislators for their focus, maturity, and discipline in supporting the administration’s development agenda while fulfilling their constitutional oversight and lawmaking responsibilities.
He described legislators as the vital link between government and the people and called on them to intensify their role in communicating government policies and achievements to constituents through town hall meetings, stakeholder consultations, and constituency engagements. He said the state’s broad-based budgeting framework created meaningful space for lawmakers to identify and channel development priorities from their constituencies into the government planning process.
Oborevwori expressed appreciation to former Governors James Ibori, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Ifeanyi Okowa for their continued support and guidance, describing the backing of experienced leaders as an ongoing source of encouragement and institutional wisdom.
Speaker Guwor said the thanksgiving service was convened to acknowledge divine guidance in the Assembly’s work over three years, during which the legislature had passed several bills and resolutions advancing good governance, economic growth, and citizens’ welfare. He commended the governor for his consistent support for the legislature and described the executive-legislative relationship in Delta State as a demonstrable asset for democratic governance that other states could learn from.
