Conditional Cash Grant Rises to N25,000 as 154,412 Jigawa Households Sign Up

More than 154,000 vulnerable households in Jigawa State have been enrolled in the federal government’s Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Program, as President Bola Tinubu raises the grant from N10,000 to N25,000 per payment cycle to ease economic hardship.

Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs Auwal Sankara gave the figures in Dutse, saying the scheme runs across the state’s 27 local government areas and aims to improve household welfare, boost nutrition and support small businesses.

He said distribution was proceeding steadily, with the first phase begun in January and a second under way. So far 126,636 beneficiaries had collected their payment cards, with arrangements in place to reach the remaining 27,776 without delay.

Sankara explained that the President had reviewed the grant upward from N10,000 per two-month cycle to N25,000, and that each household would receive three cycles totaling N75,000. Though modest, he argued, the money would meaningfully affect vulnerable families and stimulate grassroots commerce among petty traders such as food and tea sellers.

He credited the smooth rollout to Governor Umar Namadi’s support, saying the grant aligned with the governor’s 12-point agenda, and pledged continued collaboration between the two tiers of government to maximize benefits for targeted households.
