Barau Urges Kano APC to Close Ranks and Support Tinubu, Abba Yusuf Ahead of 2027

Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau has urged All Progressives Congress members in Kano North to put aside internal disagreements and work together ahead of the 2027 general election.

Barau called for support for President Bola Tinubu, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other APC candidates.

He made the appeal while receiving two delegations from Dambatta Local Government Area at the National Assembly in Abuja.

One delegation was led by former Kano State House of Assembly member Hafiz Sani Maidaji.

Maidaji had contested the APC primary for the Dambatta Makoda Federal Constituency and later challenged the outcome in court.

He subsequently withdrew the case following intervention by party leaders, including Barau.

The Deputy Senate President described the decision as a demonstration of political maturity and said internal disputes should not weaken the party’s wider electoral preparations.

He argued that APC members needed unity if the party was to consolidate its position in Kano North.

A second delegation visited Barau to express appreciation for development projects, empowerment schemes and other interventions attributed to his office.

Barau said his programmes would continue to focus on education, agriculture, infrastructure and economic empowerment.

He cited a scheme providing N100,000 in start up capital to 1,300 petty traders, artisans and other beneficiaries.

He also referred to the distribution of fertilizers, irrigation pumps, grinding machines, sewing machines, motorcycles and refrigerators.

The lawmaker said the objective was to improve household incomes and support small scale economic activity.

Barau linked the sustainability of such programmes to political stability.

He urged residents to avoid factional conflict and support the ruling party’s candidates.

His remarks form part of the APC’s wider mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections and reflect efforts to prevent primary disputes from developing into broader internal opposition.
