Auctioneers Association Praises EFCC’s Digital Asset Auction Process

The Nigerian Auctioneers Association has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for its transparency in disposing of forfeited assets through its digitized e-auction platform, while clarifying leadership confusion following recent media reports.

Association President Musa Kurra, addressing a press conference in Abuja, said comments attributed to an individual claiming to be the association’s president did not reflect its official position, clarifying that he was duly elected at the association’s national conference in October 2023 following a court ordered election process, and that the association does not recognize anyone outside its elected leadership as speaking on its behalf.

Kurra praised the commission’s leadership under Chairman Ola Olukoyede for adopting a transparent, technology driven approach to public auctions designed to eliminate sharp practices and expand participation, saying association members have been actively involved in the auction process nationwide and that operational challenges identified early on were addressed constructively through engagement with the commission. He urged the public to verify auction information through official channels and use only licensed auctioneers, reaffirming the association’s commitment to professionalism and continued collaboration with the commission.
