Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has sent public birthday wishes to former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, describing him as a brother and fellow patriot whose courage and commitment to public service continued to inspire many Nigerians.
Atiku praised Amaechi’s years of service to Rivers State and Nigeria, saying his conviction and commitment to national development had remained consistent throughout a political career that spanned governorship, the speakership of the House of Representatives, and federal ministerial office. He wished the former minister good health, strength, and continued relevance in national affairs.
The birthday message arrived shortly after Amaechi had publicly rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress presidential primary, alleging widespread irregularities, voter disenfranchisement, and a lack of transparency in the exercise. Amaechi described the results as concocted, said a significant number of party members had been denied the opportunity to participate, and accused the party leadership of manipulation and vote buying. He argued that the ADC, having positioned itself as an alternative to the established parties, was obligated to uphold higher democratic standards.
Atiku’s message made no reference to the primary dispute, striking instead a conciliatory tone focused on Amaechi’s long-standing political contributions and the spirit of service and patriotism he had demonstrated throughout his public career.
