APM Attacks Tinubu’s Leadership, Presents Makinde as 2027 Alternative

The Allied Peoples Movement has launched a broad political attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of weak leadership, economic mismanagement and inadequate response to insecurity while promoting its presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, as an alternative ahead of the 2027 election.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubukar, the party alleged that Tinubu had become disconnected from Nigerians and relied excessively on unelected aides and family members in the management of government.

The APM also criticized the President’s foreign travel and absence from some international meetings, arguing that Nigeria required more direct presidential engagement on major domestic and diplomatic issues.

It further accused the administration of failing to respond adequately to communities affected by terrorism, kidnapping and banditry.

The party cited figures on killings, unemployment, poverty, debt and migration to support its criticism, but the statistics were presented as partisan claims in the statement and were not independently substantiated in the source material supplied for this report.

The APM also attacked the administration’s economic policies, including petrol subsidy removal, taxation and borrowing, arguing that they had worsened living conditions and weakened productive businesses.

The party said Nigeria needed what it described as more energetic and accessible leadership and promoted Makinde’s record in Oyo State as evidence of the approach it would offer nationally.

It urged Tinubu to reconsider seeking another term and called on voters to support Makinde in 2027.

The allegations and assessments form part of the APM’s campaign messaging and remain contested political claims rather than established findings about the administration’s performance.
