APM Accuses Tinubu Government of Failing on Security, Cites Rising Killings and Kidnappings

The Allied Peoples Movement has accused the Bola Tinubu administration of downplaying insecurity and disputed government claims that security conditions have improved.

In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Yusuf Abubakar, the opposition party criticized Defence Minister Christopher Musa over remarks suggesting that the security situation had improved.

The APM cited the Global Terrorism Index 2026 and argued that Nigeria’s position had worsened.

The party also claimed that more than 600,000 Nigerians had been killed and at least 2.2 million abducted since Tinubu took office in May 2023.

Those figures are political claims by the APM and were not independently substantiated in the supplied material.

The party also alleged that 600 people were abducted in recent attacks in Niger State and cited SBM Intelligence figures indicating that N7.78 billion was paid in ransom between July 2025 and June 2026.

The APM said the scale of kidnapping and violence contradicted the administration’s claims of progress.

It accused the government of being disconnected from the experiences of affected communities.

The party challenged senior government officials to travel by road without heavy security protection if they believed the country was substantially safer.
