The Akwa Ibom State Government has saved more than N200 billion through strict adherence to due process, transparency and prudent financial management, Governor Umo Eno has said.

Speaking at a Projects Delivery Meeting with stakeholders at Government House, Uyo, Eno said the savings were identified by the state’s in-house quantity surveying mechanism and had been redirected to critical development priorities, reaffirming his commitment to transparency and timely delivery.

He said the meeting was convened to give the public firsthand information on how government resources were being deployed, and cautioned against the deliberate spread of falsehoods about government projects, inviting stakeholders to witness the review process directly.

Highlighting milestones, the governor cited the 350-bed Ibom International Hospital, the start of twice-weekly Ibom Air flights to Accra, a new aircraft on order, rehabilitation of Oron maritime infrastructure and efforts to actualise the Ibom Deep Seaport. He said the administration was executing 1,305 kilometres of roads and 40 bridges. Eno also announced that the state had received a six million dollar reward under the World Bank-assisted State Action on Business Enabling Reforms programme for its performance on transparency and governance, plus three million dollars under the Nigeria for Women Project, and listed several projects proposed for presidential commissioning later in the year
