Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that Akwa Ibom State would deliver the highest vote total in the South-South geopolitical zone for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, attributing the anticipated electoral support to Governor Umo Eno’s inclusive governance style and the state’s gratitude for Tinubu’s support in producing an Akwa Ibom indigene as Senate President.
Akpabio made the declaration in Uyo at a meeting of critical APC stakeholders convened ahead of Governor Eno’s consultation with party leaders on his planned re-election bid, describing the governor as a peaceful and accommodating leader whose approach to governance had united stakeholders across party lines.
He commended Eno for consulting party stakeholders despite facing no opposition for the APC governorship ticket, describing the move as a demonstration of humility and political maturity. He also cited ongoing infrastructure projects, the completion of previously abandoned initiatives, and the commencement of international flight operations at the Victor Attah International Airport as evidence of the administration’s development record that would drive voter enthusiasm in 2027.
