Aiyedatiwa Releases N18m Support for Vulnerable Widows in Ondo

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has released N18 million to support vulnerable widows in three local government areas as part of a social intervention program aimed at easing economic hardship.

The O’Datiwa Widows Care Programme began in Akoko South-West Local Government Area, where more than 500 widows from 15 wards received medical checks, medicines and financial support.

The program-me was launched at the palace of the Olubaka of Oka-Akoko.

Women Affairs and Social Development Commissioner Bosede Osamaye, who represented the governor, said the initiative was designed to provide immediate relief to women facing financial pressure after the death of their spouses.

She said many widows were raising children and meeting household costs without the income previously provided by their partners.

The intervention is intended to combine short-term financial assistance with healthcare support and wider efforts to improve household resilience.

The state government said the program would extend to other designated local government areas as part of its support for vulnerable residents.
