Adeleke Vows Re-election Fight as Allies of Former APC Chieftain Omisore Abandon the Party

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially launched his re-election campaign at Freedom Park in Osogbo, telling supporters that Accord would be on the ballot on August 15, that every vote would count, and that the people of Osun could not be intimidated or denied their democratic rights regardless of the legal and political pressures surrounding the election.

Adeleke said the campaign was a declaration of readiness to protect the state’s democratic processes and that all lawful means were being deployed to ensure his party’s right to field candidates and his own right to seek renewal of his mandate. He called on supporters to mobilize across all polling units, speak to their communities, and approach election day with courage rather than fear, pledging that continuity and good governance would prevail.

The APC in Osun continued to show signs of internal strain as the younger brother of former APC national secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore, Akinsore Omisore, and former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Lawal Azeez Olayemi resigned their party membership, joining a growing number of Omisore’s supporters who had exited the party in recent weeks. Omisore cited personal conviction in his resignation letter addressed to his ward chairman in Ile-Ife, while Lawal said his decision reflected consultations with family and political stakeholders and his assessment of his future political direction. The departures deepened visible fractures within the Osun APC as the August governorship contest drew closer.
