Adeleke Opens Re-election Campaign in Osogbo as Omisore’s Brother and Former Commissioner Quit APC

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has formally opened his re-election campaign at Freedom Park in Osogbo, calling on residents to defend their democratic rights at the August 15 governorship election and vowing that he would be returned to office regardless of the legal and political pressures surrounding his candidacy.

Adeleke told the gathering that Accord would be on the ballot, that every vote would count, and that no amount of intimidation or obstruction by what he described as dark forces would deter him or his supporters from exercising their constitutional rights. He called on supporters to mobilize across all polling units and said governance continuity in Osun depended on citizens actively protecting their mandate.

The APC continued to show signs of internal erosion ahead of the election, with the younger brother of former APC national secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore, Akinsore Omisore, and former Osun Commissioner for Youth and Sports Lawal Azeez Olayemi resigning their party membership in separate letters addressed to their respective ward chairmen. Their departures came as hundreds of Omisore’s supporters had already stepped back from the party in preceding weeks, deepening visible fractures within the Osun APC camp at a critical point in the electoral calendar.
