ADC Extends Primary Timetable as PDP and Labour Party also Adjust 2027 Election Schedules

The African Democratic Congress has extended the dates for submission of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, and primary election activities ahead of the 2027 general election, citing aspirant requests and logistical considerations, as the Peoples Democratic Party also announced a parallel extension and prominent politicians collected Labour Party nomination forms for various elective offices.

The ADC’s national spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi said the form submission deadline previously set for May 13 had been moved to May 14, with aspirant screening rescheduled from May 14 to 15 to May 16 to 17, screening results publication set for May 17, and appeals against screening decisions running from May 18 to 19. Cleared candidates will be published on May 20, with post-primary appeals for legislative elections on May 22, governorship appeals on May 23, and presidential election appeals on May 26. Presidential and governorship aspirants will be screened in Abuja while legislative aspirants will be screened in their respective states. The party also confirmed that a 25 percent concession remained applicable for women and persons with disabilities.

The PDP’s Interim National Working Committee separately extended the form purchase deadline to May 15, the submission deadline to May 18, and scheduled aspirant screening for May 19, with gubernatorial and presidential aspirants screened in Abuja and legislative aspirants in their home states.

Among prominent figures who collected Labour Party nomination forms were former Information Minister Labaran Maku for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District, Senator Ishaku Abbo for the Adamawa governorship, Emmanuel Ben for the Akwa Ibom governorship, Adamu Bako Blanzou for the Akwanga-Nasarawa Eggon-Wamba federal constituency, and Jesse James Ayenajeh for the Toto federal constituency in Nasarawa. Maku said the Labour Party had firmly established itself as a household name in Nasarawa State, while Abbo expressed confidence in the party’s growing momentum across Adamawa and the wider North-East.
