ADC Candidate Hembe Criticizes Alia’s Record and Questions Benue Spending Priorities

Benue State African Democratic Congress governorship candidate Herman Hembe has criticized Governor Hyacinth Alia’s performance and questioned what he described as an uneven distribution of development resources across the state.

Hembe spoke in Oju during a campaign event for ADC Benue South senatorial candidate David Olofu. He told supporters that the state needed a different approach to governance, with investment spread more fairly among its communities.

The candidate alleged that the state had received substantial public revenue over the previous three years and questioned figures he attributed to the governor concerning expenditure in the state’s three senatorial zones.

He cited allocations of ₦317 billion to Zone B, ₦17 billion to Zone A and ₦8 billion to Zone C, arguing that the figures suggested unequal treatment. The amounts, their classifications and the period covered were not supported by budget documents in the supplied account.

Hembe also criticized the governor’s political management and urged voters to judge the administration by visible projects and public services rather than campaign promises.

ADC state chairman Samson Okwu presented party flags to candidates and welcomed new supporters, while Olofu promised stronger representation for Benue South.

The allegations are partisan claims made during an election campaign. Xposure News should seek budget execution records and a response from the Benue State Government before presenting the alleged spending disparities as established facts.
