ADC: APC Holds Together Only by Power — Remove It and the Party Collapses

The African Democratic Congress has declared that the only force holding the All Progressives Congress together is access to political power, and that the ruling party would cease to function as a coherent organization if it lost control of the federal government in 2027.

The ADC national publicity secretary made the assertion at the launch of the party’s Rise Up Naija Media Campaign at its Abuja secretariat, describing the APC’s political practice as transactional rather than ideological. He said Nigeria could only escape its current challenges if a party anchored in ethics, principles, and egalitarianism replaced the current administration.

He challenged the audience to consider two questions that he said the opposition movement needed to answer before 2027: how to prevent the APC from returning to power, and how to end the banditry tormenting communities across the country. He argued that the country’s recurring failure had been its inability to think beyond immediate political cycles and plan for future generations.

A former ADC national chairman who also spoke at the event said the APC administration had created conditions of near-hopelessness for Nigerians, particularly young people, and that restoring confidence in the country’s future would require a change of leadership and approach.

In Rivers State, the ADC state chairman addressed the growing turbulence within the APC following withdrawals from the ruling party’s governorship primaries. He said what Rivers people wanted was not continued political conflict between factions but purposeful leadership, economic direction, security, jobs, and hope. He said the ADC was prepared to offer exactly that alternative and called on the people of the state to rally around the party.
