The Accord Party has recorded victories over the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polling units of former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and former APC National Secretary Iyiola Omisore, despite their recent support for the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

At Oyinlola’s polling unit in Okuku, Odo-Otin Local Government Area, Accord emerged ahead of the APC, according to results uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on its IReV portal.

Accord secured 125 votes at the polling unit, while the APC recorded fewer votes.

The result comes days after Oyinlola, a former governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), publicly endorsed Oyebamiji ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Omisore, who also previously served as Osun State deputy governor and later became a national officer of the APC, was among prominent political figures who backed the APC candidate during the final stage of the campaign.

The development has highlighted the difference between endorsements by political leaders and voting patterns at their respective polling units.

The Osun governorship election featured 15 candidates, with the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the PDP, APC candidate Oyebamiji and other contenders seeking the mandate of the electorate.

The final outcome of the election will be determined by INEC after the completion of the collation process across the state.
