President Bola Tinubu has called for Nigeria’s ethnic, religious and cultural differences to become a foundation for national unity and economic progress rather than a source of division.
Speaking during a dinner with members of his delegation in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, the president prayed for peace, prosperity and the wisdom required to guide the country through its challenges. He said Nigerians had a collective responsibility to strengthen understanding across communities and work towards a common national purpose.
Tinubu described the country’s human talent, enterprise and natural resources as important advantages that could support inclusive development if matched with cooperation and effective leadership. He also prayed for the safety of Nigerians at home and abroad and encouraged citizens of different faiths to pursue the national interest.
BUA Group chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu, who attended the dinner, said the pilgrimage had provided an opportunity to pray for Nigeria and reaffirmed his support for the president’s efforts. Kwara State Governor and Nigeria Governors’ Forum chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq similarly offered prayers for the president’s leadership and decision making.
Attorney General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi also prayed for the administration to deliver justice and governance without discrimination. Governors and senior officials from several states joined the gathering, alongside National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and other members of the delegation.
The gathering combined religious observance with reflections on national cohesion, with Tinubu presenting Nigeria’s diversity as a strength that should translate into practical improvements in citizens’ lives.
